    So many Kombis

That was just the best Kombi Convoy ever!!!!!
So many Kombis in one place at one time. I would like to say a special thankyou to a certain KC member who is also active in other VW areas. Due to her promotion of this event across many VW websites ensured that this event had such a high attendance of kombis from many different clubs. Onya Mate! I am in contact with Allan and the Embassy etc. As (Ruby) said, he really appreciates all the efforts put in. Lets hope that next year a few more KC members will put in the effort to represent the iconic Kombi in this festival.
    Regards,
    Cammo.

Even Dale & I had a great weekend and we were in the Saab and a tent!

Yes I managed to get pretty complete footage from the Byron roundabout and on the hill after Lismore but you buggers were too fast for us out of Bangalow (the Saab couldn't catch up???).

I also caught you both ways - in and out of Nimbin but missed getting full frontal zoomed up shots of Grandma Hooters at the pedestrian crossing (her back wasn't nearly as interesting).

Yes Brett, lets try and combine the footage - I'll try to download this one and get it to you if you can do the editing.

Thanks Lorraine & Andy - we want to party there overnight next year too.

Sunday night also saw a small band of KCers at the Byron Services Club which included Dean & Lisa (flamedsplitty64 - who couldn't make it on the run), Judy & Mick, Paul & Lynn, Peter from Griffith plus our 2 friends from Gold Coast Rockers Carol & Denis. Great meal and chat. Good suggestion Judy.

    And the TMO's verdict is:

    6 Splitties
    2 Bugs
    3 Wedges
    1 Transporter
    48 Bays (incl 4 utes)
Making a grand total of 60 in the MardiGrass Kombi Konvoy this year. Great effort guys.

    Doug & Dale

Love that photo Geoff - nice to see noses up near bums!

Reece and I and the kiddies will be there with bells on next year - even if it's just to see the moves on the dance floor!

Well done Hoops! Just missed one photo, the air tent! That was funny, wasn't it?
Chris was up at 5.30 that morning to take these misty shots. No it's not 'smoke'!
Nice to have you both here, we'll do it all again next year............Lorraine

Yes, and he woke us up. Next year we will have walls on the tent. Maybe that will keep the crunching stone noise out or you could have a concrete driveway by then. ha ha

I think the walls will be the go, half a kilometer of concrete doesn't fall within my budget I'm afraid, unless we win lotto!

    A poem from nimbin

Hi there, I couldn't download photos so i wrote a little poem for all of you who were at the convoy..........

Another Kombi Club event was planned
Where in convoy the mighty VW make a stand
It was to be at the festival of the Nimbin Mardi Grass
Now this is a place where all walks of life are known to amass

Winding their way from Byron all in a colourful row
The cars behind just had to be content to go a little slow
Over 60 Kombis and VW's of mixed makes and years
Proudly drove through Nimbin to the sound of the crowds cheers

Old friends were found again and information traded
Then it was back to Lorraine and Andy's as the sun finally faded
There was food, booze and dancing what more could you need
The entertainment from the dance floor was impressive indeed

It was like a family reunion brought together by the power of VW
We arrived knowing no one and left not knowing few
I for one can't wait til Klub Fest to again see you all
Much love from Gav and his privileged driver Kombigal.

Thank you so much to Lorraine and Andy for opening up their gorgeous house for all of us. We had a blast.

    Jules.

    Jules,

That's a fantastic poem and sums up very well what the week-end was like; look forward to catching up at Klubfest.
