What a day. After the night from Hell we woke this morning to a beautiful sunny day. Nick & Andrew, Andy & myself set off at 10 am to see if we could make it to Byron to start the Konvoy. With many a local road closed due to flooding we set off. We were somewhat daunted when we came the three flooded areas on the journey on the Nimbin Rd but all the Kombis made it through without a hitch. We made it to Lismore only to find the road to Byron closed and flashing warning signs. We pulled over to work out a plan B, spoke to some local guys who told us of a back way but found the road reopened just as we came to the flooded area so with caution proceeded. All the time I am thinking...we must be mad, no one is going to be at Byron. I could not believe my eyes as we pulled into the car park to find another 25 kombis waiting for us, we weren't the only mad ones with everyone having stories of their own experiences with the crazy weather we were having. Luckily by the time we retraced our journey the roads were all flood free and we had gathered another few kombis at Lismore so our Kombi Konvoy had grown to over 30.
