    What a day.

After the night from Hell we woke this morning to a beautiful sunny day. Nick & Andrew, Andy & myself set off at 10 am to see if we could make it to Byron to start the Konvoy. With many a local road closed due to flooding we set off. We were somewhat daunted when we came the three flooded areas on the journey on the Nimbin Rd but all the Kombis made it through without a hitch. We made it to Lismore only to find the road to Byron closed and flashing warning signs. We pulled over to work out a plan B, spoke to some local guys who told us of a back way but found the road reopened just as we came to the flooded area so with caution proceeded.

All the time I am thinking...we must be mad, no one is going to be at Byron. I could not believe my eyes as we pulled into the car park to find another 25 kombis waiting for us, we weren't the only mad ones with everyone having stories of their own experiences with the crazy weather we were having.

Luckily by the time we retraced our journey the roads were all flood free and we had gathered another few kombis at Lismore so our Kombi Konvoy had grown to over 30.

Only in Nimbin would you have to wait while a whole herd of cattle cross the road for milking.

This years Shitbox Rally entrant Wolfy were there. Lewis and John (not present) are setting off on Wed to tackle the trip from Canberra to Townsville via the Birdsville Track.

This beautiful marque was erected on the site where the Rainbow Café and Museum burnt down.

Numbers were noticeably down in Nimbin but a good crowd seeing that all roads into Nimbin were cut off by floodwater until mid morning today. Alan, the Konvoy organiser was unable to make it due to also being cut off.

I want to thank everyone that made the effort, and I can totally understand why others chose to stay in the safety of their homes. Just proves we are mad, mad about Kombis. :D

Great shots Douggie it was a cracker of a day where the contrasting natural colours made my iPhone look like a big buck canon dslr.

I've gotta learn how to upload images... Any tips?

So glad the weather passed & allowed for a relatively clear run.

I think most us use Photobucket which allows the large size photos. You can open a free account.
After you have uploaded your photos to PB use the image (IMG) link to copy & paste photos to the forum.
It has changed a bit recently and I was a bit frustrated this time in that I did not seem able to copy & paste more than one at a time.
KC forum allows 4 per post.

Have a go and ask for more advice if necessary. There might be an old post somewhere on the forum that you can search for.
We certainly had a fun day. Cheers
