Lots of combinations still available for kombis on on ppq. Need to purchase set for 66 kombi before I can show other combinations available. Maybe number plates will get as popular and valuable as kombis are in the future?

Nice Roo Bar David, would have to be one of the best styles. Sold mine last year as it is a bus.

Anyone got any good tips for mounting your personalised plates - old big yellow NSW ones were drilled on the four corners into the engine lid by former owner - now my skinnier personalised ones can only be screw into the top two holes and you see the ugly holes at the bottom.

Front looks good though - here's a photo of Etta:

Stainless screw and dome nut can be used to fill the hole. Stainless dome on the outside looks OK?

Mount it high or it will get trashed .
Would look good centred in the rubber strip .
Prob need screws in centre of each end or make a holder to sit above and below the rubber and back to bumper metal if you want to use the corner holes.
A bit of lanolin or rustproofing where the screws go thru the metal will slow corrosion

A nice piece of aluminium the same size as the plate mounted in the centre of the rubber and then mount the plate to it,this way you wont have to drill holes in the plate. I used to have a Fiat 124s No plate mount on the Ghia so it didn't get dragged off on my father in law's road into the farm.

The holes in the engine kid can be "covered" with a blanking grommet - just have to measure the dia of the hole(s) then go to Supercheap Auto - they sell Champion (I think) brand in packs of various quanities depending on size, so you'll have a few spare & all you'll see is "black dots" + easy to wash as sit almost flush with the metal.

As for the front plate, you could make up a pair of brackets from aluminium or steel to contour over the rubber strip finsihing level with the top of it - use the current holes to mount the bracket(s) thus no need to drill new ones ...... I had a similar mounting option to this on Igor my '73 bay - best picture I have to show the concept:
