has anyone experience in fitting an external oil cooler, I intend to fit one, but the kit comes with its own bolts which may mean I cannot fit up the moustache bar? ( 1970 bus). The kit says to remove studs and fit oil pump?
    Any advice appreciated...
(Oh it's only going on as my teenage son wishes To drive it and we'll I'm sure we have all been there.)

The moustache bar has off-set lugs which are about an inch thick.

I have installed a couple of beetle to kombi adapters which are thicker (slightly) than the original cover plate over the oil pump and found the biggest issue is the tinware that resides behind the main pulley.

It doesn't give much clearance so I had to trim the longer studs that hold the top of the oil pump on to ensure good "non-rattly" clearance.

The lower studs clear the moustache bar easily.

Many thanks got it sorted and fitted up neatly. Will do the job for now, but will be hunting up a nice kombi crank case to go back to standard.
