    Gidday guys

Sue came home last night in Barney after picking up from the auto electrician (last minute 12 volt work). The trip is around 60k's and when she has arrived and stopped there was a little smoke whisping out from underneath. I quick check revealed that oil was dripping (well a drop) and splashing onto the heater exchange. Barney had been leaking oil a month or so ago but when checked appeared when it was serviced the oil had been over filled and pressure leaking out the rocker covers. As the oil reduced to normal (correct) levelthe leaking almost ceased apart from the occassional drip.

Long story short....we are heading down to Eden tonight from outside Canberra, around 3 1/2 hours drive time. Is this going to be a problem or should we not go ?? Obviously cannot get into a mechanic the day before easter.

Just check that the rocker cover clips are on correctly. Other than that it should be OK. :)

If you have time, pick up a spare rocker cover gasket and keep it with you just in case it gets worse. Someone may change it for you at Eden as it only takes a couple of minutes. :)

I will grap a couple of gaskets, thanks for the tip. Will also check the VW symbol. Everyone needs to keep in mind that when Sue told me last night to "pack a tool kit, just in case" I went and grabbed another six pack.........

As a mechanic, I make great pancakes....
