Fine and sunny, some cloud and a sometimes very cool breeze depending on which part of the oval you were on! Little Brother Line Up T2 Line Up T3 T1 A superb restoration Rio? Kanga Max
Looks like some nice rides there Is this the Jamal / roof replacement or another one? Starting to like these
Don't know. Didn't have a close look. It is right hand drive (both wheel and door) so suspect a roof replacement of some sort. But some other oddities there.
Thanks Greg - fabulous photos as usual. Sorry I didn't get the chance to chat. Very hectic weekend for us with lots of ups and downs. This was our 13th Old Bar and we always look forward to catching up with kombi friends. Saturday I woke to the very sad news that Michael Weiley, guitarist from Spy V Spy had succumbed to cancer then on Sunday morning we got a message that Scotts grandmother had a fall and had been taken to hospital so we decided to come home on Monday instead of Tuesday but then on Sunday afternoon at the presentation, Scotts name was drawn out as the winner of the $1000!!! - must say that someone else got drawn out but they had gone home and the winner must be there so it was redrawn. I hope everyone had a great weekend- we were very lucky with the weather. Sad that the number of kombis registered was down on last year - possibly because this was a Valla year and some people don't do both events - it could mean that next year will be another record year. My son and grand daughter called in on their way to QLD for a holiday. Last night at the camp kitchen, the hoodies came out - these are called "drug rugs" in the US!!
The only problem with Wirrah starting a thread, is that his images, often make many additional posted pics look quite ordinary, (mainly mine), but “happy snaps” are better than “no snaps”. There was no shortage of Kombis in the lineup on the airstrip for the Sat afternoon cruise: It was decided earlier to run the T3’s last this year, to keep the fast ones at the rear, and allow for “age before beauty”, so they mustered off to one side.
Congrats to both of you on the win - always nice when someone you know wins it! Nice to wave goodbye to you both, just before the Newcastle turnoff, and I hope Scott’s Grandmother isn’t too seriously hurt.
You sell yourselves short people! I think, maybe, more dog photos are in order... OK I guess I have to restrain myself The story goes (apocryphal or not I don't know) that one of Ansel Adam's first recognised photos in Yosemite was a "happy snap" taken with an old Box Brownie when he slipped down a hill there.
You shouldn't compare photos of others with your own. All above photos are great, considering I wasn't there. Everybody has a different prospective or angle of an event, which gives a better picture in ones mind of the whole event. @Grantus your selling yourself short nothing wrong with those photos, Just respecting your elders
Sat night, I rang to arrange a 7pm free shuttle from the Meridian to the club for dinner, after Nils, David H, myself and partners/ wives/ guests/ sisters etc had finished our pre dinner drinks and nibbles, so 9 people in total. Waiting out front in a very “fresh” sea breeze, by 7.10pm still no shuttle, but the lovely owner of this bus, stopped and offered us a lift. Between her bus and Nils’ T3, we fitted everyone in, for the journey to the club. DavidH had wanted some “T3 travel experience” on the weekend, so he actually got to travel in 3 different T3’s. Nils even gave him a seat with a seatbelt! The owner is not a KC member (yet), but as I reached for the non existent seatbelt, she also warned me not to lean against the passenger front door, as it may open. Thankfully it had a dash bar to hang onto! Started a precedent for the evening, coz the ride home from the club didn’t have a seat belt either! I think David & I were glad it wasn’t raining Sat evening...........
Open Safari windows are very cool! But they are not a T3 option, to get that open air experience.........
