I agree Mark. The randomness of the early days was great. If I recall, the year some sort of grouping started, was in 2017. That year, the T3’s led the cruise, behind the lead T3 of Brendan Maloney’s bus, with black ribbons on the mirrors, and a poster of Brendan, as a tribute to his sad passing that year, and send off a brother dubber, in a way he would have liked.
We had an absolute ball also David, great to catch up with you and Lauren again as always, and it was great to introduce @SamVan to you also. They were the recipients of some of David's awesome connecting parts with Kombi's, so kind and thoughtful and in true kombi spirit, Thanks mate!!
Another Great Stay at Lanis Except: Wednesday night prior to leaving for Old bar I sliced my left "Rude finger" open on some glass in the bin, 5 hours & 4 x stitches later at Port Macquarie Base hospital I was back home keen to head of Thursday morning. Thursday Morning headed off with no drama's just a sore "rude finger", arrived at Lanis set up the camp & cracked my 1st Bintang ( weekend started) then it sunk In, NO SURFING with the boys because of the stitches. I then went into a downer because of that so I cracked my 2nd Binnie, All good again 3pm I help Hawkins & 68BUS set up camp & due to an illegally Parked QLD registered Vehicle (BRAD) we had to re arrange a little of the camp site, it was while assisting with this task and on my 3rd Binnie I caught my right leg on Mick Hawkins "PIG" fire pit and sliced my leg open. Yet another trip to hospital this time Manning Base Hospital Taree for a 7 hour wait & 9 x stitches to the right leg. Left the hospital at about 11.30pm in a taxi heading back to Lanis, that cost $55. Arrived back to realize that everyone had gone to bed ( Probably to many Beverages). Cracked my 4th Binnie relaxed then crashed out with the help of some pain killers. WHAT A GREAT WAY TO START I must thank Mick Hawkins for his first Aid and a lift to Hospital, good on you brother. The rest of the weekend was accident free for me and spent the time catching up with my KC family and enjoying everything the festival had to offer, Can't wait until next year . Steve "MILLY"
Steve - I forgot to mention - a big thank you to Karen for the Craft and Wine (Whine) afternoon on Saturday - hopefully we can do it again next year!
Rough start Steve but nice that KC members took care of you. It sounds like that 2nd hospital visit slowed down the Bintangs. Cheers to next year.
Second Mel’s post, on Sue’s behalf.... It was great for her to meet other crafty people Sometimes we tend to get locked into our camping “neighbourhood “ and don’t wander.....this was a great opportunity to coax the makers out of their kombis. Nice one , hopefully it’ll happen again.....could be an addition to every kombi gathering calendars...maybe at a different site each year/event. Cheers, Mark
Hey Mark, Karen has locked a crafty wine afternoon in for every KC event she attends from now On & will post a thread prior to 2020 Busstop, Maybe the boys could arrange a Pub Bicycle ride the same time at Dubbo ?????????? Steve.
Haha. Sorry we did not catch up at old bar. Saw little red. But not you. Few people I know that I never saw. Too busy. (Or I was too much in camping mode)
Thats Ok Brad - it was a busy weekend - I had my son and grand daughter staying with us and we also had Jon Ward visit for a night and another of Scotts' friends stay for 2 of the nights.
