My Touareg told me on my way to work this morning that my alternator wasn't working. On the way home this afternoon it kept telling me that it was a problem and I could see the volts in the battery going down each time I put my foot on the brake - which was often seeing there was a lot of traffic - so about 10 minutes from home I decided to pull off the busy road into a side street and call the NRMA before I broke down causing traffic chaos. The windows were down due to no airconditioning and the towie hooked it up with his jump cables and closed them up just before the storm hit. So now it is sitting in the driveway and my Touareg mechanic will be coming around tomorrow evening to fix it. I'll just have to take the Golf :)

It's all good Chris - cars don't know that it is close to Christmas - and it's not like I don't have anything else I can get around in.

Yep - Little Red again - on my way to the mechanic this morning to get my brakes looked at and it was the scariest drive ever - they went bad on me in early morning traffic and I just couldn't drive any further without needing a change of underwear! I had a very close shave with a T6 that decided to pull in front of me where I was trying to leave room - put my foot on pedal and it was hard, not going in and not slowing at all, pumped foot and brakes grabbed on rear and tail went sideways a bit - too scary so just pulled over safely by changing down gears and called my NRMA ride to the mechanic.

Hope you are alright, You done the best thing and not drive it any more until looked at. It sure would be a shaking experience that you don't ever want to fill no brakes:(.

You must be on first name terms with the NRMA guys Melissa!

That’s good you were able to stop safely and everyone is safe.

Glad all ended well - know the feeling happened to me once / red light - brake peddle went straight to the floor lucky no one in front or coming the other way.

    Right thing to do there.

I also know where your coming from with the underwear issues, my first kombi dropped a valve at 110kmh while overtaking, when I was about 19, locked up and started fishtailing, now that was a butt pucker. My mechanic was able to remove the piston with only taking the head off. :(
