    preheat4.jpg preheat3.jpg Hi All,
    My 1975 bay.

Just for interest, is it important to attach a air cool hose to the preheating system ?. This runs from the unit to just above the battery. Please see attached photo. I haven`t seen a van in Melbourne that has one but have seen many photos that show this connection. I don`t have one attached.

Is this a vital part that should be attached ?

    Your thoughts please

    Regards
    Klaus

This hose supplies fresh air to the air filter not hot air from the engine bay.

Thanks for this, so I gather it is an important part that I should connect a pipe ?

I realise that, but one of your pictures shows the booster fan disconnected
Just mentioning that if disconnected then the Hot air outlets from the tinware should be blocked off

    Hi Klaus,
Had a few 76 2 litres with none of them having that air cleaner 'lead in' pipe that you show over your RH battery.
    Impressive mod tho'!
I would say it has some merit as it 'picks up' from a cooler part of the engine bay;). But other than that it's not really important:(.
Agree with @rstucke that finishing off the heater boost fan tubes is very important as the extra holes in your tinware hurts the way these engines cool.
    Cheers
