    Hi all,

I’m thinking about buying an unregistered vehicle. Just wondering what checks e.g PPSR I should do before I make the purchase.

    Thanks in advance

Make sure you get a decent receipt of purchase. The old rego papers signed by the owner would be good. The usual visual checks for accident damage, rust etc. If it has been parked up for a long time then cooling system corrosion could be a problem.

Even better to write your own receipt, stating as many details and description as possible, the amount paid in full, with all of your and the sellers details on it, and get the seller to sign and date it.

There is a Government facility where you can check a vehicles details with a minimal cost and I don't think it's the PPSR - need to drag out the flyer I kept and will post up when found.

Just remember if it's an unregistered vehicle, PPSR it can't check engine numbers. Could when I got my last car.
