I used to see Werner @ the Volkscentre in cairns and he was great. He did his apprenticeship in the vw factory in Germany. When he sold the business to Toby I was a bit hesitant at first but he rebuilt my 2.0 lt motor and did a great job. It's a pity he no longer works on air cooled v dub's any more. Does any one know of a good mechanic in North Queensland who is competant on air cooled vw's?

Klaac Motors at Fairfield. Hans knows his VW's old or new. Very knowledgeable and always lets you know exactly what he has done. Also doesn't mind helping out on the phone when I'm stuck at home doing my own work.

One other thing with John Styles you don't have to ask him to do the right thing or do it properly as John is on auto pilot set to do the right thing always.

Hey guys, if anyone wants to send me details of their or other's businesses I'd be happy to start a section on the Volksbarn.com website listing by region/business type so people can find Kombi related businesses easier.

    Thanks,
    Blake

Had my kombi tuned and looked over by Shaun at German Engineering Bribie Island Queensland, yesterday. What a top bloke and very thorough and informative. It is now running sweet!

Being new Kombi owners we rang every VW mechanic in Brisbane we could find. We decided on Leons Motors as they were the most helpful and knowledgeable out of them all. Ruby is booked into to see him on Tuesday next week for a good check over. They'll also be cutting a engine access panel as requested.

Clive in Rockingham, WA is a master craftsman in metal restoration, very few can do what he does with the skill and detail, he can remake/copy/design the most intricate panels and does so almost daily, and runs classes as well as offering you to help and learn on your own resto.
I was missing one original hoop protector on my 71DC's canopy frame, as an original option accessory (canopy frame) i wanted it to be identical even in thickness, even when he offered to do it in aluminium. he hand makes every panel on early wood frame convertibles etc , and his prices are fantastic. Harbord tyres were the only place i could find that could fit and balance the wide 5 rims.
Tyre price was good. Service even better.

Big shout out to the guys down at Right price exhausts. The exhaust was one of the last jobs on the subi ej22 transplant.
I had a temp job hooked up to the original subi headers and cat. It was ok, kept the noise down for the neighbours. My local midas guy redirected me to Jamie at Right price exhausts Slacks creek brisbane. He said he hates to turn business away but Right Price just do exhausts all day long and are custom job experts at the lowest price.
I wasnt disappointed they did a great job, workmanship excellent and it has a nice note to it. They thing I am most pleased about is there was an opportunity to gouge me but they didn't. I asked for a metal Bung to be welded into the exhaust for Air Fuel ratio sensor. That wasn't in the original quote but they didn't try to charge me extra. Happily recommend them.

If you need any electrical work done in Melbourne, Calder Auto Electrics in Sunbury are awesome. They upgraded our 79 bay electrics, sorted a dual battery system, lighting, stereo system and a safety switch, all on schedule and on budget. Tom was a font of knowledge and useful advice and the whole team were a pleasure to deal with. They're our sparkles of choice for the van from now on.
