    Sam is back!
Transmission rebuilt again - apparently oil pump in the auto failed - beyond my comprehension but all fixed.
My mechanic re visited his youth 40 plus years ago and spent a few hours tuning things.
Sam is running nicely, idling without stalling.
Only a short drive today but swapped some of my stuff in, will drive him daily for a while.
    Happy Noz!

I know you said “idling without stalling” but has this fixed the idle problem?

Yes, seems to have been fixed by adjusting carbies.

Oh my Nozza:oops:. Pushing the envelope there:eek:. Love it:D. Surely needs a red flag on the front:p just to remind you.
Sam obviously up to the task!
Just love this. I've carried a lounge on the top of a Sopru with no racks so no judgement from me other than applause:D:)
    Cheers

Nice morning paddle hiding from the northerly.
Quick swim - Port Phillip still very cold.

Don't seem to have reported Sam's wipers seized up - arms very reluctant to move.
My mechanic freed them up, spindles were siezed.
Three hours of driving in the rain on the Saturday of Cup weekend had them seize up again, this time burning out the wiper motor and column stalk.
New spindles (JK), new motor (UK), new stalk (local) and I have Sam back on the road.
    Daily driver again, very happy.

Last night on the way home got a wave from another Kombi driver.
This morning, a bloke I could best describe as looking like Chopper Reid, tooted me and gave me a Shaka
Cannot believe the goodwill these cars spread.

& they'll continue to give that to you Nozza:). Bit surprised that you needed new spindles. Spindles are an every 3 yr oiling experience. Take the wipers off & the black caps. Hit the spline with an oil spray whilst operating the wipers, do it all again. Close up what you've opened;).
    Cheers

Nice morning at the beach with Sam, first with Willow and then back down for a paddle.

I think the 3 year maintenance cycle may have been ignored for the past 45 years. The spindles seized up once, required heat to free up. Mechanic tried to lubricate, but I think 3 hours constant use probably heated things up to the point they seized again.
    All appears good now.

She decides about once per morning we need to run around, jump, and bark at each other.
It's the "stop being so boring Dad" moment
