Recaro are the go for me

Proton Satria GTi had them and you can pick up pretty cheap off Gumtree or Ebay

You want something about 520mm wide on the base

That said, Volks seem to be selling the Procar by Scat pretty cheap at the moment

Honda Prelude seats are brilliant - just not Recaro

Just remember that non-standard seats may need engineering for RW complience.

anything and everything requires an engineers report

But a seat that come out of an ADR approved car and is mounted to a standard base will pass engineering

So a Recaro that is mounted by the 3 bolts each side, if mounted to VW rails, will pass engineering

Recaro copies that are not OEM may have trouble

But remember that if the seat has inbuilt stalks for seatbelts, and you intend to use them, the seat requires actual engineering and not just a mod plate. In QLD we don't need any engineers reports for a basic seat swap, just a mod plate.

OK, Next Question, I have purchased 2 x T4 seats with dual arm rests, does anyone know if there will be any dramas in fitting them? and will universal seat runners work for install?

T4 seats have a tall base because in a T4 you do not sit on top of your front wheels - sure you don't mean T3?

    Hi Barry,

Are you happy with the Recaros? What price range? Did you have to install new seat runners?

    Thanks

I paid $700 for the seats and $50 for a set of rubbish seats that I pulled the rails off

Recaro bases almost line up with T3 rails but miss by about 10mm

I put a bit of aluminium flat bar there and drilled and bolted the rails to that

They came up pretty good and are brilliant to sit in while driving

Early T4 seats fit in a T3 but for a T2 it would have to be tha later models with proper seat runners. To fit the T4 you need to trim a small bit off the base to allow it to slip on the T3 runner. There is info on this on www.thesamba.com
