Yes, that's the catch. If a https site sources data from a non-https site then you will still get a warning for all the same reasons.

But only when the non-secure source is on the page . If it is not on the current page you are viewing then it is not an issue.:)

All in all the only thing that has changed is google's manifestation of their chrome browser.

No doubt google subscribe to Candide's application of Gottfried Leibnitz's - "All is for the best in the best of possible worlds"

    It's raining in Leederville...

    Hello Wirrah,

I may be wrong......but Candide was written by Voltaire and it was Candide's mentor Pangloss, who expressed this sentiment. Voltaire attempts to parody Leibniz's contention that an omnipotent god had created the world.

    my best regards,

    AJd

.......a given, however, that Leibniz coined the phrase....."the best of all possible words".

You're not wrong. It was Pangloss. I guess I meant "Candide the novel". And, yes, Voltaire. I tried reading it once but gave up.

That's it for me too when Kombi owners quote French & German philosophers:confused:.

For some Cardiff Newcastle philosophy "If you're that smart/well read why are you driving a Kombi:p:confused::rolleyes::D?"

Ban 'em & their knowledge Melissa;). Burn their books right now:cool:!!!

    Cheers

    Really???

Are my settings actually causing this issue, or is it just another “T3’s aren’t really a Kombi” type comment?

I’ve only just revisited this thread, and I thought if there was a real issue, one of the mod / admin team surely would have contacted me......o_O

Advice please, from those “puter-litterate” members, on how to link my sig image, without causing issues.

PrOphet (Prophecy Enterprise) is the Forum software support person/company that Roy engaged to do what is required to keep the forum working ...... Vince was asked to investigate what the "Not Secure" issue was and instigate & ensure the forum was secure.

Roy may have been informed but nothing was posted in the Moderators section where it was originally raised informing us of what the problem was or the fix was.

Expect with the SSL in place now that issue should not surface again.

I checked the image and there is a https version of the site. Just try changing your link to https://img.techpowerup.org/170807/img-0520.jpg

Note that the techpowerup site should be forcing this redirection but does not appear to be.

    Anyway, just to summarise

    1) There has been no security problem with the forum
    2) The chrome browser has changed.
    3) The forum has been upgraded to SSL

Chrome shows the "Not secure" warning on all http (i.e. non encrypted) sites. They are not secure because it is conceivably possible to hijack or piggy back the data flow.

Chrome shows the secure green padlock on sites that are encrypted (i.e. https)

    but

If there is a non-encrypted source on a https page (e.g. a signature image linked to a http site) then the secure padlock is dropped and the site is flagged as being partially secure. But only on the page it is being displayed. It has no affect on other pages.
