Hey Mate, What rust and Bog I plan on taking a couple of the spare wheels/tyres when i pick it up, am getting some different tyres and wheels from Ken at the Bus Stop. The top bunk cushions were a right mess, the rats had made a nice bed up there and it stunk! the rest of the cushions had horrible covers on them, and when removed we revealed the nice westy originals See you at the weekend
Really looking forward to seeing the 75 Westy when it gets to Adelaide. Any idea when this will be? What plans do you have for it once the rally is over?
Still not finalised plans for getting it to Adelaide, could be driven, could be on a low loader? Has to be there by the latest 3rd May, when the rally is over we are going to bid on the bus and see if we get it, then decide how to get it back to Brisbane, probably a future holiday in the plan somewhere Hopefully we an get a few of the Adelaide KC'ers to send us on our way on May 4th
Hey JayBone, could you make an event in the Event (South Australia) section? Time, place, reason, etc. I'm keeping the date free, and I'll be there in Otto, my 75 Westfalia with orange plaid
Sponsorship update We have now reached the minimum fundraising target of $4000, currently sat at $4251! Thank you very much to all that have sponsored us with money, time, parts, advise and good wishes! The support we have had has been amazing! It looks likely that this years rally will start having already surpassed the $1 Million dollar mark, which will be great!
Excellent news Jon. Best of luck for the rally - hopefully not too many roadside repairs are required. Keep us updated with what happens enroute - looks like some very scenic parts of the country to see. Have fun!
just looked up on the shitbox rally website, wolfcreek taxico was pictured in the video a few times wont ruin it for the rest of you go have a watch, looks like there having a great time wouldnt mind looking into to next years run.cheers Hayden http://www.shitboxrally.com.au/
Wow - 846kms in one day in a krusty kombi with Jon at the helm. A recipie for disaster. Looks like they are having a great time. despite a few typical kombi issues.
It had an engine fire, They put that out and got her going again at slower speed then it started to cut out again and stopped - so it was towed the last 340kms. Dont know if it is fixed as yet - they have volunteer mechanics but they are not VW specialists. I think Jon needs one of these:
Just looked at the route of the rally today and they are heading into Western Australia on some nasty corrugated dirt roads. Have a sample of what they will endure..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcwRAbpaDWc Now where are those shock absorbers?
Exactly Col. Those seats didnt seem very comfortable. Jon may end up with a few roids by the time he gets to Perth.
