Rear rust repair finished. All new metal welded in. I’ll post pics later. Getting a few small extras done whilst I am off the road. Front indicators replaced as well as new front door hinge pins. Behind schedule and over budget (yeah I know imagine that), into paint Tuesday, hopefully have some primer in a week.
Sorry if off topic, but it looks like there's an interesting build happening next door to yours as well. Some kind of food van perhaps?
Wonder how many of the imported food vans get registered? Seems most of the beer spout ones are trailer jobs only at high prices ?
Ok so i am back from OS and looking in on my project. The Splitty in the background is a very rare Container Van. Apparently not many built and circa 16 or so left alive. this one getting the full back to specs resto.
The Samba25 is in the paint shop, getting soothed and smoothed ready for primer, should have the top half painted Monday. I don't have enough brownie points to fully paint the Bus and the orange is in good enough shape, even if it's not my favourite colour, it can wait.
Cool! I misunderstood your post when you said you couldn’t “paint the whole bus”, and thought you were just going to leave the new work in primer....
Lots of good stuff happening whilst I've been away. My Benco Racing transaxle arrived. 3.44 ring and pinion 3.80x2.06x1.26x.82 All new bearings, complete axle to axle with Reduction Boxes and a 5 year warranty. The issue will be shipping the item back to California for warranty work if required, so fingers crossed.
As a non splitty person .................. why keep the reduction box? Wouldnt it be easier and cheaper to go IRS?
I love the low end torque that I have with the RBs, I am hoping the slightly taller gears give me a decent shot at 100kph cruise.
