Hi, I am thinking of doing a straight axle conversion on my 67 Split to do away with the reduction boxes. Has anyone got any advice of what is the best kit/transmission etc to use? Thanks.

Just asking why you wouldn't do IRS?

Get onto Burnie at Munster garage ( deluxe hunter) on here, he sells a straight axle kit, all just bolts in

If you can find a pre 1965 type 3 transmission, it has the long axles, bigger brakes and is wide 5 stud pattern, all you need to do then is cut the shock mounts off the axle tubes, swap gearbox nose cone and hockey stick from your original gearbox and bolt in.

No cutting to bus at all, can be taken back to original easily

Thanks for that info. I was thinking of an IRS conversion but I wanted to keep the van so it can always go back to original. I heard the clamp on control arm mounts aren't the best. A lowered swing axle will be fine for the way I drive it.
