Welcome to the Kombi Club Tac! :)

Next thing to do, is unplug the O2 sensor, and see if it runs better.

    Enjoy the ride.......;)

Have heard catalytic converters can clog up to causing issues - but they usually wont start.

Lots of sensors that can cause issues like the O2 sensor (the one connected to the exhaust).

    Best of luck.

Buy a Bentley manual, a multimeter and compression Gauge.
    Best $200 you can spend.

    And welcome by the way

I thought about the temp 2 sensor, and it could be the case, but that failure doesn’t match the symptoms described....o_O

Process of elimination required, and start with unplugging the O2 sensor. (Easy and cheap first step, as no parts required.)

They run happily without one connected, as they are just a fine tuning sensor to the ECU, but with the wrong signal, can upset the whole system. ;)

Have you looked at the air intake filter? Clean and OK With no blockages?

Temp 2 sensor could be the culprit, and not expensive to buy and fit a new one......... but before you do that, just disconnect the air intake hose to the filter, and see what happens, to ensure there’s no blockage in the upstand air intake.

Thank you for your advice in regards to the air intake. I had cleaned & replaced the filter.
I found some information about the air flow metre on top of the air filter.
Removed the lid from the top & found the air flow arm not opening all the way.
Pushed the arm anti clockwise and then increased the fuel intake & found the motor would idle and rev.
Found the spring inside the AFM set too strong for the metre to open correctly so I adjusted this accordingly and it seems to perform better.

Next task, is to start a thread in the “members rides” section, and post up some pics. (We all love pics here!) ;)

And then, for future tech / running issues, post up the probs in the “t3 tech help” forum, to ensure all those T3 gurus here can help out. :)

Thats a bummer. Try contacting Luckyphil and Lowrider on this forum. Both part out T3's. Lowrider also advertises on Gumtree and has a longstanding ad at the bottom of the VW T3 section.

    Have one same number.
Can pop top off to check tracks and any other tests recommended by brains trust.
Haven't run it myself and don't have same engine to test on.
Off an engine that ran a bearing so working as far as I know .
Happy to fit it to another van to test if there is anyone near gumpie/ noosa with same.
Or deliver to Matt Berry to test if you organise with him to pay for test first.
