Temp sender ???

    Iv got a vdo gauge in my 74 bay with a 2l motor but isn't working gets power ect thinking it could be the sender but i cant find it, could any one point me in the right direction of where it could be i seen a couple have been on sump but mine isn't any help would be awesome

    If it is an oil temp gauge, then the main chances I've come across are:
    • Sump plug sender
    • Dip stick sender
    • New tapped hole in the case, often on the front rhs of the case, close to the fuel pump location, but on the front, not side.
    • Other possible, but these are what I have seen.
    Of course, there may have previously been a dipstick or sump plug sender which has since been discarded.....
    If it is a higher temperature range, could also be a CHT (cylinder head temp) gauge, with the likely connection at #3 spark plug

    Thanks for reply yea its oil temp iv lookd around these areas but cant see much, might just have to fit another sender

    No stray wires hanging around the engine bay?

    Maybe try and trace the wire from the guage back to the engine
