A great afternoon we had down at a very windy Terrigal Haven after a very sunny and calm morning.

I think all kombis have now been thoroughly sand blasted after the hurricane hit making it too cold to mingle round the vans so we all ran for the shelter of the local cafe which overlooked the kombis. Hence we could talk about them - just not touch them.

Basically a typical VW event without rain - ie cold and very windy.

A fantastic turnout despite the weather and something we should do again soon yet pick a better weather weekend!

We managed to sneak 1 beetle in there too.

Here are some snaps I got before we were blown away:

We are made of tougher stuff than the Ford club! LOL We lasted there longer than they did :)

We ended up seeing the Spys at Bateau Bay pub and we have possibly converted Chucky into a fan as well.

That is Peter Korsche's kombi (is that how you spell it?)

I think its Peter Korch - close enough though.

Scott - it is Peter Korsche as in Porsche - Post #8 guy with white t-shirt and moustache just to the right of the guy with the Valla t-shirt.

Good turnout ! Thanks for posting pics too.

I also feel like I haven't been to a Kombi event in ages. I was out helping with a wedding down south side of Sydney - the Kombi was being blown all over the highway on the way there - not fun at all.

    Bert,

Its not actually - he is a relation of mine (by his wife Karen is my brother's Aunty -in-law) - I have seen his name on a few family things and he spells it Korch - he added the other bits to make it sound like Porsche. Was very inventive of him and reduced liability in case anyone sue's.

Great to see him back in his kombi again and Bronte was just as keen.

I am not related but I am pretty sure his name is spelt Korsch.

Had a great day, Good to meet you all.

Shame about the wind but it's all part of the fun.

See you at the next meet.

Thanks for organising the catchup Scott, it was great to meet everyone. It was my first Kombi event and certainly not the last!

The haven is a great spot for a kombi meet - well it would have been perfect if we started pre-breakfast @ 7:00am and run off by 11:00am.

Hopefully next time the hurricane goes somewhere else.

It was funny seeing the Falcon convention running away well before us!
