I recently had trouble with the vac advance on the distributer. My mechanic lent me one he had until i could find another. I spoke to quite a few VW places and was told you simply could get them. Anyway, to cut a long story short I found someone that recondition/exchange them for $75. Has made a huge difference to my bus so i thought I would post their contact info in case someone is looking for one.

    ADVANCE DIAPHRAGM OPTIONS.

75 bucks seems a lot better than the 120 that 500king told me. not to mention in tassie they have to get off the floor from laughing when I ask for kombi parts from any of the usual part suppliers. bosch parts catalogs don't have the 1800 dist vac adv listed anymore.

Yes I must agree the genuine parts are definitely the way to go if you can. The manufacturers don't spend all that money on research for nothing. And reliability is the cornerstone of car make popularity. If its crap we wont buy it. (unless its holden or ford....only kidding)

Boris at Vintage Vee Dub said you can't get vac cans new any more and he didn't know of anyone I could call.
After a quick google search, I phoned Advance Diaphragm Options and Michael told me he has a 461 can in stock for $75. I checked Ebay and no 461's. I'll report back when it arrives.
