Vroom Vroom!

Just finished my first Type IV rebuild today and it ended with a resounding "vroom vrroom"!

It's taken a wee while as money was tight and my workshop consisted of a back verandah and a toolbox but, finally, the Green Machine has a voice again.

Type I donks I've done but the Type IV offers an array of other challenges (and expenses!).

I've been able to do everything myself except for the machining and I have to thank Bob of Volkscare (Adelaide) for that and for his great advice, support and often loans of workshop space and specialist tools, equipment and cheap parts. Brilliant bloke, I'll never go anywhere else for anything VW.

LOTS of KC members have been involved in my little project and they're all top of the range folks that it's an honour to know.
Tonight it was Ed and Fran and Tom (ttmck) who swung around, after a lovely bbq to celebrate Caspar's first birthday (1975 Westfalia), to give me a hand to coax the old (new?) girl back to life.
The "vroom vroom" that came soon after made me feel 20 years younger!

Thanks everyone. Rebuilding an engine from scratch may be a small thing to many people but it's a big thing to me and my lads. We couldn't have done it without you.

    Thanks folks.
Wnen I brought da Boyz home from school today I dashed into the shed as they were getting bags/instruments out of the loaner van and started up the bus.
"Holy S**t!" shouted Tamas, "is that the Kombi??"

Pax (the dog) jumped into the passenger seat straight away with a "where we goin' ?" look on her face.
She should pull out of the shed tomorrow under her own steam after more than a year!

We're so close to our first drive in her with the new donk we can taste it.
