    Finally found time to sort out the sliding door sill, showing 30+ years of workhorse wear and tear.

    @cbus kindly donated a Caravelle aluminium cover strip a few years ago. @nils smacked it back into shape, and then I black cerecoated it.

    The VW cover is made to fit over carpet, but not under rubber mats, so I sliced off the raised rear carpet tread edge, to allow the rubber mats to sit flat;

    then fitted it to the sill. :)

    I haven’t found a better sticking, more durable finish..... until I do, it’s Cerakote for those high wear sections, like sills, door handles, wipers.....;)

    Oldman & Barry are already booked in for a course late June......... assuming COVID restrictions are sufficiently lifted by then, I’m sure they’ll share a review on KC.;)

    Hopefully in the “What made you happy” thread... :D

    Was just thinking about that......and it may well be! :rolleyes:

    I paid for it, and it went to Phil’s place. I then collected it from Phil on the way to Old Bar a couple of years back. :)

    Was that the one?

    Bumblebee the 76 DC made her way into the garage from the driveway under her own power for the first time yesterday. Been a slow road so far with lots of other things going on and then when I have time it gets eaten up with stupid stuff. A total of 6 hours to get the gearbox hanger bolts in for example. No I am not an idiot and I have done them many times before. If you said it to me before I started I would have laughed, have had the odd ones that were hard before but these were insane. Just wouldn't take up on the threads. I even pulled the engine off the gearbox to find out why and they were actually in the right place. Another set of bolts were found and finally they took up but the old one checked on another hanger work ok. Gearbox is difficult to get in to revers even with new couplings and bushes, but works fine at the gearbox. etc etc etc. Managed to power engine controls etc with a bit of fuse removal and blanking off live wires so I have alternator and oil pressure lights with a screwdriver for the ignition switch. Now to do some body work. That will be the big test.

    I replaced the stripe on my T3 a while ago but the vinyl seems different. Not as pliable

    so I pulled it all off and did it again but this time I trimmed it so it is only on the flat section- not the sloping part.

    it was lifting in the “valley”

    has come up much better- take a snap tomorrow’s
