It’s looks like it’s the corners, that are the too bulky bit….

Could be that the lower leg needs stretching out to reduce the bulk at the corners....?

Message #5036 You can see that the rubber isn't hard against the body, need piece of timber like a wooden ruler to push in the out edge of the rubber towards the body.(inwards) should do it all the way round.
As the rubber is at the moment you can see it's angled to the body not flat against the body. The Bottom corners need pulled towards the middle.

Yes this helped quite a bit , but was also surprised that the tongue latch was adjustable In and out by 5 mm .

So you have pulled the latch out to make it work? by 4mm
Is the door level with body all the way round?
It may need adjustment by the hinge at the top if the door is not level with body with the new rubber, which would also affected the latch at the bottom.

Yes level alway round has a bit of spring to it . I can only assume the old rubber had shrunk .

Yes it would of been clasping with age. The new rubber would give it the spring you've mention. If it's level all the way round it would be right.

BTW that BOSH coil is a factory origonal 1978 , I always carry a spare these days..
