Just paid the historic rego for another year, finally supplying small log book for movements for nsw. Much tidier

Surprised that they haven't moved to electronic log book.

Ah, a day without rain... I put some wheel trims on the 75 and went for a drive down to Black Mountain Peninsular.

In Canberra we can delay registering our cars for up to 12 months (and then just pay and it's re-registered) ... which I should have done last year - a few cars sat unused for 5 months while I was in WA.

I'll give it a go with some cars and see what I think - the 75 is first up - it will be limited to driveway adventures for a while ... and if I really need to, I can just put 3 months on it any time I want :)

Yep. Finished carting firewood and a tip run with the single cab in October, so parked up and bought the next 6 months on the Kanga Banga, and put it back on the road…. ;)

I think it’s a very fair system. I can only drive one at a time, so why pay 2 lots of full rego? :)

NSW Government loves all the money - no way they would allow you to do that - after 3 months they start chasing you for the plates.
I still cant believe we have a historic or conditional rego system that allows limited use yet save an easy $1k in rego costs per year.

Replaced all the bash pan self tappers with nutserts and bolts, spring washers and washers…..
Not often VW got things wrong, however relying on self tappers to hold the bash plate was one of them, in my opinion.
Over the years they have either shaken out on dirt roads, stripped out from too many tightenings or just vanished inexplicably……

A parts retailer emailed me to say that my rewards dollars were about to expire……($52.00 worth) and that I should spend them before they disappear…..
Jumped online and found a nutsert set for $52.99 …..included the tool and 40 rivnuts.
So, total expenditure was 99 cents and it did the job perfectly !
6mm rivnuts and matched bolts have a 10mm head which is the same as the originals.
Easy job and another job crossed off the list.;)
    Cheers,
    Mark

Sounds like a plan. Had the pan off last month and my fix was a bit primitive. Used a punch around the hole to rearrange the metal and found some bigger screws.

Spotty got new tyres today at Costco.

Scott wasn't too sure about the paperwork - should he be offended?? Haha

I think they just do that to cover themselves so we cant say they damaged the car while in their possession.

    Got it! ;)

I can understand “big scratch”, “door dent” or “broken taillight” noted, to justify they didn’t do it, and were not responsible………….

But did they really think you’d claim they “faded the paint” whilst in their possession?

Probably not something they deal with every day - the poor young guy couldn't find reverse either so Scott had to move Spotty out of the work bay.

    Pretty typical.
Safer to do it yourself than have them bugger it.

    Re the paint.
Usualy to cover arse in case of damage as suggested.
Would take a strong dose of truck wash to fade the paint.

Ive often had paint fade after getting new tyres - those tyre shops have too much UV dammit!

Kombi has been given the task of run around vehicle and accommodation for 3 days while our mate has his house boat up on the slip (can't sleep in the boat while on the slip, OH&S rules) so fitted a larger LYP battery to run the Waeco fridge/freezer and fans/lights, tidied up the solar wiring to the PL20 regulator and today I'll fit a couple of solar panels, just to be sure to be sure
Last night it went down to the marina so some of the "surplus to requirement"gear could be brought up to the workshop, Kombi was happy to have a run after a mth or so sleeping in the workshop yard, but did mange to run out of LPG on the climb up the hill from the marina, lucky its duel fuel eh :)
