I thought it might be interesting for a few of us to look back on our first posts. Somewhat bizarrely mine was: "You could try http://www.kruizinwagon.com.au/view_articles.asp?pxa=ve&id=20 Otherwise, your favorite search engine should bring up plenty of articles. (I personally prefer them high....)" December 18 2006 https://forums.kombiclub.com/threads/dropping-the-suspension.3853/#post-31924 I didn't actually introduce myself until my second post! https://forums.kombiclub.com/threads/another-victorian.3893/ What was your first post?
Unsurprisingly in was our build post. Seems so long ago now and I’ve learnt so much about splitties. Also learnt I can give it back to Grantus as much as he gives out! https://forums.kombiclub.com/threads/i-love-a-sunburnt-samba.52794/#post-567878 This reminds me we have had some developments on the possible ownership of the sunburnt express. I feel a story thread coming on!
Disappointed. No actual first posts shared. I had to scroll through lots of my history pages to embarrass myself with this admittedly uninteresting post, I was really hoping at least more than one other person would follow my lead. Is your first post embarassing or just mundane, who cares please post it!
I thought it would be easy to find, but no....... I couldn’t allocate the time to do the scrolling back through over 15,000 posts, on a page at a time. Sorry Woz......I tried.
Thankfully I remember yesterday finished with 'Y' & I'm sure when I first posted that day finished with 'Y' some years ago. Tomorrow doesn't finish in 'Y'. May have been this https://forums.kombiclub.com/threads/76-sopru-resto.54261/ Been a member since 2010 but only started posting with the resto stuff. Cheers
Hey Woz......my first post on KC was via Kim’s,my son, profile....... We’d bought his lowlight and Had been slowly getting it ready for blue slipping. I’d just finished refurbing the tail light assemblies and was having trouble installing them. Those little oval units are a tight fit ! Scotty - Syncro27 and StevieVW both chimed in feeling the frustration..... This was my intro to this great community........their comments made me feel better and that I wasn’t a complete Luddite ! Lots of water under the bridge since then.....and we’re still working on his lowlight ...... Cheers, Mark
My first post was in the new members section saying hello all. https://forums.kombiclub.com/threads/hello-all.52493/
My first post was too far back - it was introducing myself when I found Kombi Club via The Bus Stop on ebay. There were only a couple of women members and thought it was going to be a "boys club" but I was made welcome and look where we are now - family friendly
my first post wasn't too far back - geez, less than a year - in the new members sections and a few pics https://forums.kombiclub.com/threads/new-to-the-forum-but-not-so-new.57559/
My first post was in 2013 introducing myself after selling my beetles and being full time T3 (now plus T2) person But my AVD says 2002 - but this was the 2nd re-incarnation. There was something like 5years of the “early days” Before that was Shoptalk Forums and one sub group was Super Beetles Only. Supers were really frowned on in those days. But that sub group got so big they were kicked off to go form there own forum. SBO was born. But that crashed and burned out All my questions in the early days were more to do with hitting up motors. Jetting carbs, what cam, exhaust, compression ratios ........... and the old 1916 chestnut Don’t see that so much these days. Think our rides have got too precious to try experimenting with these days.
There were some early issues with the database which meant members were deleted and had to be reloaded so posts were also lost ......
Was a lot of kombi sites years ago. Schmoburger and his mafia site Joel IN tassie and his site Brookie in wa and his site Plus all the others. I was in quite a few way back then. Now still in the first one I ever found on evilbay
Haha thanks anyway. I am amazed I had the patience and persistence as well. It probably wasn't worth the effort as my first post was neither interesting or memorable.
