    Hi There,

I have not attended any Bus Stop's on the past..
So dont know what to expect..
I have been looking for more details than where and when.
I live on the Gold Coast and wont be camping.

Is there an Agenda like Valla for Fri, Sat and Sun?

Is there a swap Meet or any vendors there?

I know there is a Gala Dinner Sat Night Planned and a Run somewhere Sunday..

    Correct?

    Please enlighten me!

    Cheers,

    Rowan

Hi Rowan, keep an eye on the other threads in the same topic that you posted your question. If you would like to join in with any of the activities there is plenty of parking out front of the Caravan Park, why not pop along on Friday night and say hi. This is part of what is posted there.

    FRIDAY NIGHT WELCOME PARTY
On Friday night at 6:00 pm we commence a “meet and greet” party at the Nibbles by the Pool Café inside the Park swimming pool complex. It is our intention to purchase a number of pizzas to start the evening off but further food and drinks will need to be bought by you at the licensed café. This is an opportunity to check on scheduled events for the weekend and meet other kombi owners that you don’t know already. After a short while we can adjourn to the Riverwalk area of the Park for some more socialising.

    FUN AND GAMES FOR EVERYONE
There are traditional activities such as the Toy Kombi races regularly run by our race-master Alpal and a Sunday morning Easter Egg Hunt for the kids. The tennis court has been booked from 10:00 am – 11:00 am Saturday for the pull-back Kombi races and it can be also used for remote controlled racing. Bring your toys.
We also intend to run other activities for the kids, such as races, kombi golf and a tug of war. Adults could also represent their State in the Big Boys version of Tug of War. A full timetable and location for these activities will be issued when you arrive at the Park.

SATURDAY NIGHT GALA DINNER / DANCE PARTY
FANCY DRESS THEME: WET & WILD
This event is being held at the Nerang RSL less than 15 minutes South of the Park. Funds from profits at the 2011 Run to the Sun VW Show have been allocated to hire a separate function room at the RSL, a very talented band (Australia’s Got Talent Finalists) and a bus to take you from the Park to the RSL and back again at various times, so that you do not have to drive.
The first bus will leave the Park at 5:30 pm and the second bus at 6:15 pm. You will need to be at the Park office 10 minutes beforehand to book your place. Priority will be given to those with children for the first bus going to the RSL who are planning to come back at 9:00 pm. The last bus will leave the RSL at 10:30pm.
When you arrive at the club you will need to order your meal quickly at one of the restaurants and bring it back to our function room, so that the next group can also be served quickly.
The festivities begin at 7:30 pm – awards and prize-giving, fancy dress judging and some games if time permits. Our band (The Twine) starts at 8:30 pm and will continue until about 10:00 pm.
The last bus will leave the club at 10:30pm to return to the Park. Failure to be ready for the bus at the Park or at the RSL will leave you to find your own way there or home.

    SUNDAY CRUISE DETAILS
The Sunday cruise will be in four groups of up to 15 kombis, leaving 20 minutes apart to allow time for a less crowded look around at the stops along the way. Directions will be given to each group for use with a GPS.
The first mini-convoy will leave the Park at 9:45am, then others follow every 20 minutes. Those wanting an early start to allow time for other adventures should ensure that they are in the first group.
The route for the cruise is North up the Pacific Motorway from the Park to Yatala (Exit 41), proceeding along Darlington Drive to Stanmore Road and on to the Bearded Dragon at Tamborine for a quick comfort stop. From there the cruise continues right past Albert River Wines (they are not going to be open) on the Mundoolan Connection Road. The cruise continues to Canungra. Stop and have a look around, fill up the petrol tank or get yourselves an ice cream or a coffee. This is the first major stop. There are many options for cheaper lunches here including one very good pie shop that I might have to call on.
From Canungra, we proceed East to the Historic Rivermill on the Beaudesert – Nerang Road. This the second major stop. Check out the museum and market and all of the other attractions at this picturesque location. Lunch is also available here if you want to stay for a bit.
Proceed by way of Mt Nathan to the Nerang – Murwillumbah Road and a little further South to the Advancetown Hotel for the final lunch option with a live band after 1pm. This trip will take about 2hrs 30mins including all stops.
After lunch, at 2:30 pm a side trip from the Advancetown Hotel to Natural Bridge is well worth doing – its only 20 minutes further up the Numinbah Valley toward the NSW border. A small bushwalk takes you to one of the natural wonders of this beautiful valley between Springbrook National Park and Lamington National Park.

Sorry, I meant to say that this schedule is subject to change in the next month due to unforeseen circumstances.

Rowan...looking for enlightenment. A large responsibility to cast upon all and sundry , but the predicament is heartfelt and universal to Bustop first timers. This will be my 4th and while I do not profess to have enlightening skills I can but relate my experience(s) for your consideration. The agenda , chronologically set out , is in this thread. It is but nomenclature , indicative of where one might find significant numbers of K.Cites in a certain mode and mind set at any given time. My experience as follows....the initial overwhelming sight of a Kluster of Kombis more than the mind can generally accommodate...but sufficient to crack a smile on the dial and a sense of excitement/anticipation of things to come. Usually proportional to the effort ( think distance ) expended in just getting there. I have marvelled at the QLD'ers. Taswegians N.S.Welshians who travel such distances. Melbourne of course is the centre of the Universe and is rarely put out...except perhaps this year....and look at the nos coming. Impressive. On arrival, much joyous exclamation...enthusiastic hugging and the truly warming sight of so many people in such a happy frame of mind. Camps are set up and thus begins the migratory camp crawl. K.Cites usually laden with victuals paying visits to others...much animated dialogue ..many upended posteriors under Various Kombi anatomy ( why is it the male of the species seem only capable of appreciating a Kombi while in skyward pointing derriere supplication ) Small children..comforted by the realization that Mum and Dad are truly happy in this setting , play and visit each other camps...picking up where they left off, last Summer. Much intell gathering on technical aspects of our obsession and unfettered opportunity to pick the brains of some very clever and knowledgable people...who, astonishingly are unbelievably generous in their time and advice. The setting of the sun, often heralds accelerated bonhemie and espirit d'corps with hilarity, shared laughter and ...dare I say it...FUN. The dinner and costume event is fun and best appreciated by ensuring you are in costume. Being an elderly , cool and mature individual not given to such silliness..(.I am after all...ME!)....I refused to partake in such silliness considering it to be well beneath my superior level of intellectual functioning( Mount Gambier ). By the end of the night I was wearing my jocks on the outside..a red wig..and face paint..and having the time of my life. Sooo grateful to those who helped me out in that instance. Was feeling like a prize prat to that time. A most unaccustomed feeling for me. " Kombi Drag Races " on no account to be missed. Iconic AlPal somehow assembles the multitudes ( who by this time are in a time continuum of regression ie. all are behaving "youthfully") to hold kombi races. Pullbacks..radio controlled..anything seems to go..and usually does. The children are especially, a study in unbridled joy and excitement . Nothing exciting , but undeniably a reaffirmation of joy that is the golden thread of our collective Kombi madness. During the day, much pleasurable social intercourse...outings and cementing of friendships that will endure the tyranny of distance over the next period of months. I think by now you probably get the picture and if you have attended " Old Bar...Old Vallah...Old anything . I suspect there is little different to those events. I only know " Bustop "and being from a little known colony in the deep south ( perhaps you have heard of it... Adelaide ...?) we dont get out much and when we do , the wise Kombi'ites from the East intimidate us so.You, being untroubled by effort to attend , the potential enjoyment should not be diminished, if you are of a mind to descend/ascend to the aforementioned depths/heights, then put on your socializing soft shoes and catch a taxi or bring a sleeping bag. Anyhow...entirely a matter for you. Seek and you shall be enlightened and enriched for you are a Kombi-ite and there is little of mortal origin that can bring you down. Why do I go ?...what enlightenment do I derive..?.you ask quizzically. Who is this nutter from the South...You have heard about them...doubtless your mother warned you as a small child. I make the effort because I love the joy...the camaradie in what is an odd obsession...and probably because Kombi Club people make me feel one of them. There is no commerciality. ie swap meets/ vendors sideshows etc. That is important for me. Sooooo...! look forward to meeting the enlightened you and yours at the annointed time in the designated grounds. I am at Site 49 . You will find me in the bottom of a bottle looking for personality, where I usually find it. Yours in Enlightenment John Doherty in Adelaide:cool:
