Folks, #73 in the Newbie Questions list ... but where does one source masking paper from for painting?
For the life of me I can't think of anyone who buys newspapers any more (except for my Dad) so that may be a limited source but I have seen a few shots of vans with large sheets of brown paper. Does this come from art shops, SuperCheap/Repco, paint suppliers ... or somewhere else entirely?
I can see that Bunnings have something but that seems to be a max 300mm high.
    Cheers

I used the cheap '"dropsheet" plastic films from the paint section at Bunnings for masking large areas.

Paint supplier, I have a 1200x 100M roll here somewhere.
Wieghs a ton and was 25 bucks or something.

Otherwise like Grant said, use that quite a bit too

    As Nils said.
Most convenient and what paint shops use is the brown paper roll.
Much easier and saves heaps of tape joining newspapers ;)
Most paint retailers or at least auto paint suppliers will stock.
Additiinaly, For rags go to large Vinnie's stores. Big bag white cotton rags about $ 20.
MUST be cotton, ie sheet n tee shirt. No synthetic blends.

Back in my day 1 sheet of the Sydney morning herald used to cover 1/2 the car in one hit.;)

Up here, all copies of the Courier Mail were sequestered to the loo ... as that was about all it was useful for :p

    Ditto to all the above,
I also find handy a large roll of cling film - go to any good catering / packaging store and buy the largest roll - some 500 - 600 mm wide.
Cost around $35 /$40 a roll. ( not the stuff you buy in Woollies - silly domestic box!)
When I moved my leather lounge (2x piece) this roll was indispensable - simply wrapped both lounges with film - took about 10 minutes. And made picking up the furniture much easier. :):):):)
