The Drinking Bird
We had Mercurochrome to fix up wounds. Big red stain!
Condies crystals for warts. Big violet stain.
Gentian violet for fungus, athlete's foot, ringworm and Gram's method of classifying bacteria. Big blue stain.
And as adults we have Red Wine…………..big red stain !!
.........and weren't those metal slippery dips HOT in summer !
Cracker night, bonfires and bunger wars……
And, we all survived !
My sister set off 20 boxes, in one hit with her behind. We had them stored between the two front seats in a kombi , as father driving across the paddock .Hit a bump and she fell of the seat and landed in between the two seats.
When Seven Hills was Seven Hills..... remember that .
No not that old.
It was on a stock reserve near Mudgee
Oh NOS site
I remember pulling apart throw downs as a kid, to see what was inside.....not sure what I expected and had absolutely no idea about touch powder
Ended up with a scattered mess of small gravel and white powder on the front concrete porch at home.
Confused and hearing my mother fast approaching, I thought I'd better brush the mess away with my hand....
You guessed it !......friction, gravel and touch powder is what makes throw downs go "bang", only this was a whole packet !
Scared the absolute 5hit out of me when it went off............ and I thought I'd blown a couple of fingers off in the shock and confusion.
Of course, no damage done.....and I now have first hand experience of touch powder !!
Awesome learning experience!
Yes, nothing like an epic fail to teach you a lesson!
And cracker guns!
Made one out of waterpipe. Penny bunger and marble up the spout. Blew out a window at the end of the street. Dismantled and never again!
Not that I ever did this.
Tuppenny bungers in a neighbours letter box.
I do miss 'cracker night'!
