1960 ish the servo where I worked we had a after hours two bob in the slot (up to ten coins) petrol dispensing bowser.
Back then standard grade fuel cost two and eleven pence + 1 halfpenny a GALLON , ( I cant remember how to type this value in numerals ? )
All was good for late motorists until we found the amount of fuel dispensed didn't match coins in the cash box
Turns out if you swung the hose like a skipping rope a trickle of fuel would fill a 1 gallon tin in about 5 minutes, as we all rode motor cycles those days
you could get a few days of free fuel, the bowers was modified shortly after.

    Old school parking meters

I was a service mechanic on the road after my apprenticeship
Use to carry a paddle pop stick in the pen slot of your work shirt
Slip it in the meter at 45 degrees
Never paid for parking in 3 years

.....when footy players “ran the bins”
Yup, first grade players would collect garbage bins, the galv. steel ones and often two at a time, run to catch up to the slowly moving truck, empty them into the truck, return the bins and lids , then move on down the street.
A time when we used to leave a few long necks out for the garbos at Christmas time to say,
“thanks for not running over my bin, or flattening the lid...”:D
    Cheers,
    Mark

Had one like this in the Commonwealth Trading Bank, Martin Place & Pitt Street Sydney for many years ..... you got a please explain if you clocked off after 5.07pm as @ 5.08pm you were entitled to 15 minutes overtime which required prior approval.

I remember Cobra alarms but have never had one in any kombi
If I’m concerned, I pocket the rotor button for the night.

Ah yes the ol' Cobra alarm ..... never put one in a VW or other car until late 1983 & it ended up being a waste of money  ..... never used one again.
Used this in the VW's when I was concerned where it was left -

Rolling a jaffa down the cinema on the old wooden floors,:eek:What fun that was when I was a young kid:D and how annoying it would be for others watching the picture and listening to the jaffa roll and drop down the floor levels.

“Someone” in our group used to chuck one into the big fans either side to the screen....
Sheesh, we used to do dumb stuff .....but we never hurt anyone and had a great laugh along the way.
......and Chicos.....but they’re probably culturally inappropriate now, too.....little brown chocolate flavoured jubes , shaped like people.
    Cheers,
