Lorraine it is nice to see that you are giving shelter to our native wildlife. And on the carpet as well. It ain't a brown snake, that is our local critter.

I had it identified as a Whip Snake and luckily harmless to my pets. I had one of my cats bitten by a Tiger Snake last year and it was a huge battle to save her life.

Everyone keeps telling me our brown snakes are protected but over the past twenty years we have lost three alpacas to their bites. What do you do?

Protect them to a nice place where they won't bother anyone, anything. ;)

The arrogant Eastern Browns are protected here too.

When that fact was pointed out to a neighbour who shot a large one at his back door.....his reply: "That one couldn't have been protected - the bullet went right through it!" :p

I did relocate a 1.2m brown form inside the house, and I'm not keen on snakes (no pun intended Lorraine), 20 kms away over 2 rivers, and into the Namadji National Park.

Not a pleasant experience, and thankful for garbage bins with locking lids.......and having a Single Cab, to do the job!;)
