    Hi All,

Still on the quest for new bigger rims and have come across these which seem to be the correct stud pattern and ET for my Caravelle.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/164833773769?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

After doing a bit of research online it would appear i need to make the lug holes bigger by a couple of mm which i assume is a simple task with a bigger drill bit but how do i make the centre hole bigger? Looks like i need to widen by a couple of mm so is this a case of hitting it with the multi tool or does it need to be done professionally?

Finally, will i need different wheel nuts?

    Thanks in advance!

    John

Centre bore may be a problem. It may or may not be able to be enlarged.

Are the wheel mounting bolts M12 or M14.

Legally any modifications to wheels must be done by someone licenced.

That’s it! Being merc rims the centre bore is large enough and the mefro nuts/lugs are M12 ball seat with M14 thread to make it all work the same wheels can be found at wreckers for around $30/rim on Merc c class cars.

Hi Dapom, when i googled the mefro kit from Brickworks it only comes with 10 bolts but 20 nuts? Don't i need 20 of each?

Sorry if this is a dumb question!

A syncro uses 20 nuts and a 2wd uses 10 bolts (front) and 10 nuts (rear).

Ok so just to clarify, i only need 10 nuts and 10 bolts for my 2WD?

Are the stock bolts on the rear longer than the bolts on the front?

Again, apologies if this is common knowledge!

The standard 2 wheel drive has
    • Nuts for the rear. 2 wheels with 5 studs per hub. You need 10 nuts
    • Bolts for the front. 2 wheels with 5 bolts per disc. You need 10 bolts
    Syncro has studs all around

You should have bolts that secure the rim to the rotors on the front and nuts to secure the rims to the studs that are set into the rear hubs.

Have you considered using a bolt to stud conversion kit for the front hubs? T3 Technique offer these and the M14 small ball nuts. Gives a simple standard solution and make changing front wheels easier - got studs to guide the rim on.

You will need bolts for the front wheels unless you modify. Have a look at what you have now. Steel wheels are always ball seat. Some are 14mm and some are 12mm.

I'd send the seller an enquiry, they would be able to advise accordingly.
