I was chatting to the guy at Shannons on the phone updating the private rego on my Kombi & he asked if my Kombi had a name, I said to him, "yeah all my motorcycles & cars have names" I have : Heidi - my 1974 Kombi Tilly - my 1957 BSA 250cc M/C Sophia - my 1967 Vespa VBB Scooter Erika - my Royal Enfield Himalayan M/C Suzie - my Suzuki SX4 Car Sabrina my Subaru Forester He said he thought it was just a Kombi thing because everyone he chats to on the phone has a name for their Kombi. I'm wondering now what do other members call their Kombi? I've attached a pic of Heidi's name on her window.
Blitz previous owner called it Flash (cause it was so fast), figured the German version more appropriate
I didn’t reveal the Kanga Banga’s name to Shannons - Thought it may put them off wanting to insure it, or send my premiums sky rocketing!
I wouldn't have thought them that smart. They originally said Blitz was a motor home not a camper van eventually giving in to my argument
I don't usually call them by name...although I once entered 'flipper' onto a form for the blue kombi. and when I bought my ute in 2013 he came with a name
As per my signature. You won't believe this but they are named after our Cocker Spaniels that are waiting at the Rainbow Bridge...
I'll believe it. We have and have had Cockers. Sam is named after the Cocker Spaniels the seller had (Sam and Sam, father and son, both gone now) He told us about them, and "Sam The Van" seemed to fit.
Had a couple of Kombis before this one & both were girls but the moment I drove this one I knew he was a boy & as we've been together for 31 years & I got older I transferred that aging to him by saying "Lets take old boy camping etc" (not referring to myself at all ). Since I've been on KC I decided to put that on the outside as we saw so many named. https://forums.kombiclub.com/threads/76-sopru-resto.54261/page-16 post 318. Cheers
Had a '72 Bettle called RAR based on number plate also but more often referred to as Budgie ..... the Budgie we had got called VW
