Roo is spot on, early june 1960. This was just after they changed from semaphores to indicators so its a cross over model which is nice.

No idea about the HH letters but your numbers date the bus to dec 1960 so you are correct there.
As for finding the numbers, look inside the engine...

The beam will fit but will need to be modified. You can remove the end plates and new laser cut ones can be then welded on with the correct hole...

174596 is very late April 1956, very nice indeed.
Its a very early bus, almost BD but not quite.
Last produced barndoor February 28, 1955: 20-117901.
Sometime March 55, very very nice.
Any other numbers ? Maybe a 20 in front of that number ?? If so it's an early 55 ( march ) ribbed bumpers, semaphores...close to BD as well so lots...
I had the same problem on my Yoot.
I replaced everything with new parts and it drove me crazy to the point that I wouldn't / couldn't drive it.
I had this problem when I put a bay tank in the Yoot.
I bought VDO gauges and didn't buy the right sender unit, the sender unit and fuel...
Its an early May 1956 bus, very very nice. Lucky man.
