Hi Guys, I finally found a Splitty from the evilbay. It was in the middle of nowhere in Crows Nest and was quite an adventure to find. We will be slowly restoring her back to her former glory. Here a couple of piccys of the trip and of us starting to strip her down.
Good to see you getting stuck into it already! So far looks pretty good, hope that roof is not as bad as first expected. Best of luck with the resto. Alan
Thanks a heap guys, I now officially feel like I’m now a part of the brother hood I’ll try and get some more pics up tomorrow of the not so good parts Possibly next step after getting it all stripped down is getting it sandblasted. Then start on panel, which I’m still contemplating taking her up to someone to get that part all done properly (as Dave says Do it once Do it right) While I’m here I may as well give a quick history of the old girl. She has been undercover in a garage for 15 years at Crows Nest as a cubby house. She has been fully painted in house paint over that time (hence the flowers) which has done a pretty good job of protecting it from the weather. Will keep everyone updated as we go
Sweet bus mate, nice find! I was watching this one on ebay. Awesome to see another brizzie bus! Have you been on www.dsk.com.au yet? It is an Aus website dedicated to all things split. I would strongly recomend speaking to Johnnie, he has been a great help to me and my bus. Good luck with it all, and keep the pics coming! Cheers Leroy
Good score, looks like you have plenty of refreshments to keep you going on those late nights restoring, keep them coming to Brisbane
Party at Jack's place, I say!! Check out that wine collection. Congratulations - looks like a great old bus. I look forward to seeing the resto pictures.
Got some more piccys, things have been going a bit slow at the moment with block exams and cross country etc yada yada happening at the moment. But I have started to sand back and paint strip some of the panels and wack a quick coat of primer on, to protect them for the mean time. Also just ordered some POR15 goodies, as well as a new speedo, antenna and other stuff
nice one... gotta love a bus painted like a fat ladies house dress.. love seeing progress pics mate.. keep em coming!.
