I've got a bus like yours ('76 model) in original condition with 278K on clock. Runs sweet. Can l suggest to get rid of bull bar, front will look much cleaner ! Cheers !

Yes, hard decision. Have another bar to fit to Gertie the Camper once I’ve given it a paint. Would be a shame take the bar off Ernie....then find skippy or a deer wanting to come for a ride. I’ll see soon as this bar needs to come off and be cleaned up at some stage :D

Thanks Dave! Amazing what new shoes and some Autosol polish can do!! Now to cut and polish the paintwork....:D

Best of all we have done a few short trips! All went well but a new muffler is needed before we attempt a decent drive! Plenty of space for the kids in the back ;)

    Hi Dave
How would I go about patching the muffler, plenty of holes in it. Pic below

If you are bored you could cut it open and pack it with hi temp fibreglass or rock wool and then seal it up.

If you google some pics you will find what they look like inside.
    Basically some baffles and packing.

    Hi Barry,

Have found a used muffler on Gumtree. Looks ok - no holes! So better than what I have now!
    Thanks

Used muffler plus a few other bits found the other day, gotta love gumtree! Muffler is fitted....Ernie is now much quieter!! ;)
Was a mission getting the old muffler off though, rounded 2 nuts and had to use the hacksaw to cut the old bolts away:rolleyes: Managed to change the engine oil while I was going to!:D

    First road trip!!

Bus loaded up with my wife & 6 friends, good tunes, lots of laughter on an cruise around a few cellar doors :D

Still plenty of work to be done but we can enjoy it along the way. Need to do cv boots and try and fix the speedo next

Plenty of road trips to come :)

Small road trip with the family on the weekend

Ernie was sputtering a bit, time for a new coil and dizzy maybe ;) would drive really well, just a bit rough at idle and just starting off

Got a few big waves along the way :D

    Hi all,

Question for the brains trust.... How do I stick my badge back on? Just double sided foam tape? or is there a better way?

    Thanks

There are specific clips for these. Not sure if they changed from the low-light version but most suppliers should sell them.
