Maybe they changed over the years, no clips on the back of this badge. Looks like it was just stuck on somehow. Was in the box of spares I got with the bus. Can see on the back door were it's meant to be thanks to the original paint.

I assume there would be a black foam tape you could buy and cut into shape??????

    Hi Marzy,
I used fancy double sided tape to put on my front VW badge as
    1. I didn't want to put holes in the panel.
    2. I'd heard the new panels were thinner (& they are) & require someone on the inside to provide support to prevent deformation. Not that any of that is relevant to your question:(.
I'd stick with tape:). No holes be a good thing!
Got some tape I can send that'll do justice;). Fancy 3M stuff.
    Cheers

I’ll check out Bunnings next time I’m passing by, they will have a double sided tape ;)

These are the clips I was talking about.

If someone just yanked the badge out, these clips would just be sitting inside the tailgate (possibly rusting away).

Are there holes in the tail gate?

I’m guessing then that it is not original and is an add on?

I would get some double sided tape - but not the foam stuff.
Whatever they use on modern cars.
You see new badges being sawn off with fishing line

    What...free too expensive:p?
Don't get that B stuff. The tape I offer adheres better than S**t to a blanket. One day in the sun & it sets perfectly;).
Geez...how hard do you have to work to give away stuff now days:(!!
    Cheers

Sorry, I was referring to the price of the 3M tape. Yes, free is a bargain. How do I get it?:)
    Thanks

Automatic badges don’t have pins on the back, must have been glued

Just remembered I want to put some blue led's under the inside of my poptop so could you post the leftover back please @Marzy ? I could have done the blue led's before I sent the roll if only I remembered!
Seniors moment:(. Forgetful old guy here. Must make a list. Now where's that list:oops:?
I'm interested where you applied it to the badge Hayden?
    Cheers

Hi David, sure thing, I’ll send it back!

I just tried to get as much tape on the badge as possible, mainly on the wider letters. Trimmed as much back to keep it neat with a Stanley knife.

Hopefully it stays on for another 43 years now ;)
