Just wondering if anyone can help?
I have just recently sold my beautiful 71 Kombi to someone in Victoria. They do not want the plates as they will be getting new VIC ones(as i am in NSW)
I was hoping to see if i can sell my plates, which are BUS-071, but when i rang the RTA they said that i can put them on hold (for $53) but i can only transfer them to a family member and can only sell them if they are proper personalised (ie. all numbers or all letters)
Is there a way around this? Or is that the way it is?
    Thanks
    Greg

    Hi Greg
There is a way around most things. If you think the plates have a decent value then transfer them onto another vehicle that is NSW registered in yours or the family members name but of little value then sell the vehicle to someone who wants the plates, the sale price would be inflated by the amout you wnat for the plates. :)

Beware of Stamp Duty issues doing this.
