Hi there, can anyone recommend a good auto geabox mechanic in Sydney?
The Sams 76 auto box is dropping the occasional gear and the trans fluid appears burnt. According to the book we are suspecting burned friction linings on the brake bands or clutches. A job that is beyond us. I am aware of Andrew Dodd but seeing if there are any others? Appreciate some guidance.

No leads but you will likely find a lot of the plastics inside are pretty crunchy as well.
Well worth the full Resto which is usually still less than for a manual .
    Will last well after that.
Usual practice is exchange convertor as well to ensure a clean and fully functioning system.

If an option maybe just ship it up to Aaron Roberts at Speedshift Autos on the Gold Coast and you can definitely be assured of a good job.

Andrew Dodd dosen't do auto transmissions himself. He sends them to https://www.australiantransmissioncentre.com.au
So we'll take @SamVan (florence) down there. The guy there, Andy, has done plenty of kombi's, AD recommends him, his price is good (estimating $2500+gst including removal, full reco using genuine audi and VW parts, no chinese, and re-installation). So will let you know how it goes.

I sent mine to Aaron Roberts at Speedshift Autos on the Gold Coast, approx 2 week turnaround (can be faster if you need to)
He did my gearbox and torque converter about 15 months ago and also modifies it for an external oil cooler (highly recommended), everything is still working well, really nice bloke to deal with.

Auto Medic at West Gosford rebuilt my 76 auto box and did a great job. Shifts smooth as Marvin Gaye.

Just Picked up @SamVan 's bus from the Australian Transmission Centre at Nth Parramatta after her auto transmission re-build. Pretty much everything was buggered, clutches, bearings, belts, seals etc. All done, they stuck to the quoted price of $2,500 + gst including removal and re-install, runs beautifully!! Happy Campers.
