    Hello
I just need to know if you can weld broken spring plates?
I have not seen any for sale anywhere.

    Thanks

G'day landi. welcome to club. If your referring to the front leaves in the beam I doubt you could safely weld them. maybe someone with engineering knowledge will confirm. I just obtained a full set of 2nd hand.

If its for a late bay then front beams are a dime a dozen.

    Thanks guys,
Ive called a few vw shops here in Adelaide but i cant seem to find anyone with just the individual spring plates.
They tell me to just put it back together with the broken spring. "It will sag abit but it'll be allright"
I will be trying to weld it and i'll let you know how i go. I figure that the ends of the springs were welded before so why not the middles.
    It cant hurt to try!

    Cheers for now.
    Rob.

    they are talking crap.
you need your spring rate. especialy of its one of the bigger ones. what did it feell ike before you pulled it apart?
technicaly you are not allowed to weld suspension components but a failure in the leaf would not be catastrophic.

welding will change[weaken] the spring and it should be reset by heating in prescribed manner.

having said that . it could be tried :)

I have some here if you want one but it would have to be courier as think post wont dealwith that length.

It will only break again near the weld if you weld it
