Just curious Matt but Bay Windows have a 56 ltr tank ,would have thought u would get more KS that 300 at the Red zone
.how many lts does it take when u fill up at that point.
    Not being critical just curious.

    Should be about 3600 rpm @ 100 kmhr with a 3 rib box .
I used to get about 18-19 mpg hammering around town n up Dandenong ranges when I lived there.
    25 mpg on long runs.

    Converts roughly to 15 and 11.3 l/ 100 respectively.

Really…54 Ltrs. I thought it was in the forties.... My gauge stops at just under the 1/1 mark and I know it goes all the way to the empty mark -The previous owner always drove around in the red and usually topped up 10ltrs when it hit the empty line ( i did have lotsa crud in the fuel filter after the first few full tanks). I fill up when at the red zone and its usually around 30-35ltrs to fill. Ive had 13.5 to 11.8 Ltrs/100kms...

    Yeah.
    Was same in the 71.
Yet the 2litre/ 6 rib is only about 300 rpm lower and seems so much more co.fortable.
Accelerating through hears is more torque as well and not wringing as much as possible out of each gear.

Maybe the different cooling fan makes the type 1 feel as if it's revving more ?

Compared to what we spend on the damn things - petrol is the least of our worries.

Imagine if they ran on cigarettes

Reckon it would cost someone more in fags than petrol to go from Sydney to Brisbane

Worked fine for me. It was an old one that came up in a search so I figured it would be fine. It is possible it was a thread that was originally on the old forum system before we changed to the present system and was archived from then. Still a good thread on this subject.
