I did it! My heart is singing! I bought a 75 Bay window camper yesterday. Now don’t get me wrong I’m super excited however after reading some threads I’m a teeny bit concerned about the $$ in the motor department....the lady I bought doesn’t run yet, she nearly turns over but has been sitting for a while and is leaking fuel...so I know I’m up for some big $$...

I am having it towed tomorrow from
The man I bought it from and am thinking of actually towing it straight to a mechanic and get it going and get some idea of the cost also.

I’m so pleased to be among you!

    Petra xx

P.s having trouble uploading file photo will keep trying x

    Xxxx

    Hi Petra,
I'm excited for you:D. With the fuel side take it straight to the mechanics. New fuel lines & some carb work will keep it fire proof;) & protect your investment & your future Kombi memories:).
File size needs to be under 1mb for uploads.
Show us a photo when you get a chance & what month 75?
Cheers & welcome to the Kombi Club;)

Doesn't look too bad so far.
The crap whitewash may come off with a high pressure gernie then some oven cleaner.
If not, it's likely enamel. Should get up pretty quick with a good paint stripper.
Blast it off as soon as it fries.
If the yellow underneath is factory Paint it will be quite tolerant of the stripper .
Some experimenting will find the balance.

There might be some more under that poptop as well if that area is any sign to go by. There is a bloke selling a complete roof I've seen somewhere at the moment as well.

    Easy enough to replace sections.
A lot of repo panels available.
Don't be tempted to do small repairs when a if section needs attn.
The important issue will be check behind those areas for internal rust

It will need a full rustproof after any repairs but that's easy enough .
