    NOOOOOOOO, don't do that!!!
One of mine was different to the others. It did my head in and I couldn't cope, so I had to go out and buy a whole new set. It cost me $1100.
$300 for the hubcaps, $700 for a couple of sessions with my Psychiatrist and $100 for the medication.

But my new ones are shiny, soooooo shiny, shiny, shiny, arrrrrrrrrr, so shiny, arrrrhhhh.

Remember it doesn't matter how wide your rim on the hubcap is, they still come off the same and rolls away under a passing vehicle finds ito_O:eek::rolleyes::p.

Perhaps I need to try the different hub caps to see if that makes any difference to oil temperature o_O;)

Try one as an under engine exposed oil cooler & can double as a drip tray:p. Cable ties or coat hangers & an extra oil pickup & I reckon 15 degrees less in it;).

    Nerd glasses still on unfortunately:(.https://forums.kombiclub.com/thread...-or-other-car-today.53746/page-30#post-648332
Old Boy got some new hubcaps. Really disappointed with just 2 years from the new ones ex America. Note the curve on the ouside edge of VW logo.[IMG]Does that flat square edge outside the VW logo give anyone clues about where these come from? See above is a curve down to a flay & then the logo & this one a sharp edge & an angle down to the logo[IMG]
    Right width outside edge tho'.
Just $160 for 4 from the boys whom were doing the clocks & proper Kombi edge width:cool:. Now it seems the centre not the same? Bloody OCD:rolleyes:
    Cheers

Been a long time since I went through the same process. Collected a lot of period hub caps many years ago, like your photo above there are differences in the VW logo also, both how sharp the pressing is and how far out the pressing protrudes from the rest of the hub cap. Can't say I found a definitive answer, but agree there were differences depending on the manufacturer, not necessarily the year.
And yes, kombi are different to type 3 and beetle!

T3 seem to have the wider edge, or at least the ones that came on mine were and look old enough to be originals.
