Hello to all VW and specifically Kombi owners. My name is Rob(Tillis is my bike...TLS 1000ccV-Twin) and I have owned VWs beetles or kombis most of my adult life.
I was pleased to find with internet access AVD and learnt much especially about engine conversions but sadly AVD seems to have died due to lack of mutual interest.....

I was very pleased to find kombiclub some years ago and enjoy the contact and exchange of experiences and ideas...I own a Bay and a T3 and it is a pleasure to share with whoever wants to listen to my adventures and repairs and modifications.

I am retired and have the time to work on my cars and post up...read it or not your choice but it makes me sad to think kombiclub could go the same way as AVD....so tell us all what you are doing Vdubbers!

    Merry Christmas

It's tough out there - people expect "instant" which is what Facebook is - but a forum is much more secure and easy to search for information. I don't know how to get people posting more - its totally up to them.

I think FB has a lot to do with both sites. It is also Christmas time of year for some kombis and KC is playing second fiddle to other family functions of this time of year.

The biggest killer to forums like this is Facebook. However many of us dont like Facebook for this type of interaction so it is also a strong attraction to KC. This forum is moderated and has a great wealth of stored knowledge not to mention tons of very nice members who get together at organised events or adhoc meetups and cruises or to help each other out either via the forum or in person so it has a great future despite Facebook.

Nicely worded, Fb has it's limitations but seems to be an attraction for people,I can't see what they can see in it.Everyone to there own just like everything else I guess.

Second Phil's summary of what kc fulfills.
People come and go as life or enthusiasm dictates.
Otherwise they're here regardless of posts and the support and comraderie continues.
    The info remains .
    The point of contact continues

AVD was special - entirely different to here.

It was born in the golden days of cheap cars and hot engines.
You could afford to build a 1916 grenade and learn the hard way about jetting and wild cams
It was in the days of "chat rooms"

There is a LOT of great info there

I think Kombiclub will endure there's so much good stuff happening here, not overly patronised lately (Christmas is coming)
    but
We need to cater for all tastes Kombi
The guy with the want to talk about nothing has his place. Some like his posts (I personally think they're dribble but he doesn't like my description)
Can't we just put him in a spot where people who want to follow can.
easy for the mods to control just move him to the designated spot.

I did PM him;) to help his guide around this site. I agree with all that there is a lot of info here but perhaps it could be considered that our interactions with each other may make this site less accessible for some.
    Cheers

    It's up to you.
When did you last put a photo of your, or anyone else's kombi up?
And stop the whatever you call them emoji things!!!!
They really shit me - mean nothing and do nothing.
Put up some real content and the site will thrive.
And I liked the VWbus guy's videos
    Rant over

Kombi Club is like that favourite holiday house you used to go to as a kid.......it’ll always be here.
How much people post, is up to the individuals........as is what they post.
Rarely do we (Mods.) have to step in but it does happen now and then. Generally we’re a well behaved bunch that share a common interest. Lifetime friendships are forged at gatherings and we’ve even had a marriage result from a KC meet.
KC is definately not in competition with it’s FB namesake.....there is no competition!
Folks will gravitate to what platform they prefer.......as has always been they case.
I’ll be here to turn out the light when the last person leaves .....and to turn them back on when they return.
    Cheers,
    Mark

Yep for me the KC has the depth I need. I read Facebook a few times a week but don't have enough interest in any of the subjects enough to go into detail that a forum provides.

    Facebook-sickly sweet unsatisfying candy
KC Forum- meat with 3 vegies well balanced vw diet.

As an infrequent poster I'm part of the problem :) The forum is chock a block full of information already, if I need to find something out it's pretty easy to search for it - that's one of the big benefits of forums that you don't find on other platforms.
