What a helpful passenger
I can’t believe I didn’t see you! I’ve always got my eyes peeled for other T3’s!
On the telly
USA show by the slider.
Warning Pedant Alert!
Not logically correct! My '71 has the same slider arrangement being a LHD but is a full German import from Hannover.
However, I do concede that you are correct in a more cloudy, ephemeral or heuristic sense. It is a US vehicle and thus probably a US TV show given the the vast plethora of US programming on TV (although it might be one of those Italian westerns staring Clint Eastwood or Eli Wallach - but I didn't see it).
The side marker lamp is the real indicator of a possible North American presence. A unique attribute of US sold transporters (well those that survived the Chicken Tax anyway)
Or just another left hooker in Oz.
Thanks for the info @wirrah
Flipper front 1/4 windows was also std in the US, but not all markets (like ours). What is interesting is the sliding windows were factory from late '77, but the sliding door handle "lift to release catch" was discontinued by then.
A couple in Tuggeranong ACT today...........
Received the RACQ's Road Ahead magazine and there was a Samba featured in it ...... found it here - https://www.redplumautomotive.com.au/1967-vw-23-window-kombi-samba-deluxe/ ...... Brasilian Import
Had seen this one on car sales and found it @ Red Plum - https://www.redplumautomotive.com.au/1961-vw-kombi-splitty/
Arnt you supposed to actually spot them in real life otherwise this thread will be full of pics from mags.
Spotted one coming home from the Island today.
Bay, orange, board on top, some sort of mirror image windscreen top band with the word "Kombi" in it.
Camera strap was jammed in the door when I tried to get it, leading to an interesting manouver.
It looked cool.
Valid point......for this particular thread.
There’s a whole forum for different types of “Kombi Spotting” threads.
