    Hello to all,

I bought my bus a tick over seven years ago. I was forty six and it was the first automobile I had ever owned. I found it, (or did it find me?) on Carsales. When I was looking there was, generally between, say, forty to fifty Kombis for sale. At the moment there are well over a hundred Kombis for sale on Carsales. Would anyone like to posit a reason? Sign of the times economically?

    all the best,

    AJD

I doubt many would be using the sales pitch: “Owner going overseas”, at the moment

A lot more flippers ,people have had enough of them and realised there is more involved in them then putting petrol in them. Family has expended and haven't got time or money for it any more:confused:. I really don't know why,if they are project cars some may be know finding out they are harder and more expensive then what they where made out to believe.

Absolutely Wayne.....too many buying with their hearts and not their heads.
    And then that epiphany ,
“...what on earth have I gotten myself into......
But they’re worth a fortune,(that’s what the seller led me to believe....), so I’ll ask ridiculous money...
    Cheers,

Barry they weren't good when they were new and back in the late 1960's we pushed a lot of them into the dam behind the dealership which were better than some of those that are for sale.

Lots of left hand drive Brasillian buses, which are not always liked, a lot of high priced splits and some bay windows that are way overpriced. quite a mixed bag.

When i was looking for mine around 3 years ago there was always around 70 for sale on car sales so theres been a steady trajectory.
There are a couple still there now from when I was looking at crazy prices. The top priced splitty was there then but was asking over 300k, now at 260k still hasnt sold, the top priced bay dropped price by about 20k and still hasnt sold. Some of the bay prices are through the roof also and people have less discretionary income and savings than they did a few years ago i think. I think maybe for these reasons sellers expectations are just too high for peoples capacity at the moment.

Check how many are up on Gumtree - about the same quantity and not many listed on both sites.
Some have been there for a few years ..... imported splits. Other good ones are taking time to sell as well.
Wayne and Mark on the money.

Splitty is @ Full Throttle Garage - was SAMBA 1 I believe - even was shown on RPM yesterday with Kate Beck sitting in drivers seat ..... SAMBA 3 the white over blue was also there @ $160k ...... both listed privately by same owner before going to FTG ;)

Aaahhhh, that'd be Andy Roberts' bulk sale and the new owners already trying to flip 'em wouldn't it....? !!
    Could be wrong.

That’s what “Market Value” is. :)

Whatever a buyer is prepared to pay, at any given time, is the current market value. Nothing higher, nothing less. ;)

Not sure Andy actually sold them but may be wrong  ....... both were on carsales through his private advertisement then next thing under "Dealer" which I took as on consignment to them to sell.

Any car @ Shannons gets an inspection done and always interesting to read the report to see what the independent mechanic has to say  ..... picks up oil leaks, where electrics need attention, how it drives and comments on components, body work  what looks good has a so-so report :(
