Just thought this'd be an interesting question to put forth in a new thread after a short exchange with Nath in another one... what you guys each would rate as your 10 favourite albums from any artist, genre, and year from now back to oblivion....

    Mine would be as follows...

    1. Live... Throwing Copper.
    2. Bush... Sixteen Stone.
    3. Tonic... Lemon Parade.
    4. Pearl Jam... Ten.
    5. Smashing Pumpkins... Melon Collie and The Infinite Sadness.
    6. Bush... Razorblade Suitcase.
    7. Pink Floyd... Dark Side Of The Moon.
    8. Regurgitator... Unit.
    9. Led Zeppelin... IV.
    10. Nirvana... Bleach.

There are also a few others that would make the list if it were more than the top 10... Such as Radioheads' Pablo Honey, The Beatles Abbey Road, Everlast's Whitey Ford Sings The Blues, Cut Copy's In Ghost Colours etc etc... but anyway.

    Kgo! :)

I agree with a number of these, but havent the time to compile mine this morning.
Just wanted to say thanks for putting up Tonic - Lemon Parade.
I had forgotten about this for about 4 years. Cracked it out for the drive to work and sang myself stupid all the way.

I remember putting Alice's Restaurant on when I was a student DJ at Triple Z thinking that would give me enough time to duck outside and have a smoke, only to find 10 minutes later that it had been skipping about 30 seconds in...

I'm going to put it on right now ... and duck outside and have a smoke.

I have to say, I don't much listen to albums any more. When I'm in Australia, I listen to vinyl and CDs in my Kombi, but 99.9% of the time, it's digital and track-based. I do love a good album though, and its sad to see their demise. You can see specifically what I listen to here: http://www.last.fm/user/DingoStrategy

Extrapolating from Last.fm, my top albums must be
    1. Laura Veirs: Saltbreakers (in fairness, this was my former partner's favourite, and I accidentally taught her how to use my system once. This is the result. But I do love Laura Veirs)
    2. Bonnie Prince Billy: Ease on Down the Road (but all of his work is great)
    3. Bon Iver: For Emma, forever ago (Spookily enough)
    4. This Will Destroy You: This Will Destroy You.
    5. Jose Gonzales: In Our Nature
    6. Tord Gustavsen trio: Being There
    7. Sigur Ros: That's a toughie but I'll go with 'Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust.'
    8. Explosions in the Sky: The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place)
    9. Cinematic Orchestra: Ma Fleur
    10. Gregor Samsa: 55:12
    But in reality:
    1. Dirty Three's Cinder MUST be on my list.
    2. Gillian Welsch's Revelator would be on it
    3. Pink Floyd's DSotM has gotta be there.
    4. While I have Explosions in the Sky on my list as 'the earth is not a cold dead place', I have sleeve art from 'How strange innocence' tattooed to my person.
    5. Magic Dirt's Friend's in Danger is also tattooed to my person yet it doesn't make the cut.
    6. Johnny Cash is impossible to pick out an album, but his late stuff is there.
    7. Nick Cave should be on here, but I like him more than I listen to him.
    8. The best music ever is the mix tape you get when you're in love and you're about 19. Consequentially, the greatest album ever i owned had Ben Harper, Dirty Three, Portishead, Massive Attack on it.
