I will start off with a big thanks to John @JHB88

I bought his bay in September last year but it has been a slow process in getting this registered.
No dramas - my mechanic believed me when I said “I’m not in a hurry”

Anyway- it’s done now and I have been cruising.

A bit of work was done - brakes, exhaust, fuel pump, CV’s, hoses, gear box bushes and coupling blah blah

This is a very original and complete baby if honest condition.
I will slowly work my way through so I understand what’s what and fix and adjust.

But as you can see, full original seats, un torn head lining, dicky seat for the front, pristine spare wheel cover and on and on.

There is adjustment left in the steering box and it drives well.
Yes - it’s not a T3, but is one of the best bays that I have driven.

Best of all there is bugger all rust to be found

    Very nice Barry.

Even has the dickie seat - a rare option that one!

What colour are you going to paint it? :p

Barry, John would be so happy at seeing this post go up and how happy you are with the Kombi ...... I wonder if the red heart is still there behind the door card (think it's the drivers door ).

Great to see you've got it on the road and enjoying the kruising ;)

I sent John a txt and apologised for taking so long.

Christmas will be spent playing and learning all things Bay

The old adage of “your Kombi finds you” is true for me.

Unless you do a real good strip, preparation and spray I have seen too many blow up in a year or 2 with rust. Good cars ruined.

On the other hand I have seen many survive the elements in their original condition, sitting outside 24/7, and not deteriorate.

Seeing as I don’t have a lazy $30k+ I will keep it the way it is.

Also, as they say, it is only original once.

    Re blowing out...
That's the trouble with people thinking they know how to do something but actualy having stuff all knowledge.

I agree that original paint is a very thick and durable system if intact.
A good gerni internaly and check worthwhile.
    The originality is nice.

Ok - the purge has been completed.
The last of the maroon was scraped of my bay and it’s true colour installed.

Befittingly the last Qld rego that was on was a 2014 and it was red/maroon and the repo 1977 one I had made up was blue.

Reckon it looks heaps better already
