    Hi all,

Ive recently purchased (well began to) a Kombi Van... seen it on Gumtree, it needs work obviously-the lady has entered an arrangement and letting me pay it off. I hope to have it in a month or 2.

Ill add progress photos of the work being done. It'll be going straight from her place to my mates where we will be doing the rust repair and getting it repainted.

I don't plan to strip it right back to metal and re-build. I wouldn't have the knowledge to do all that. I just want it to look nice for now then sometime down the track I might do a full restoration.

Ill be buying a 1977 Bay window Camper. The pop top is in bad shape and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of where I could get new canvas and struts for it.

    TIA

    Ryan

    Welcome Ryan.
The search function in the top right corner will find you so much info.
Might also be an idea to go and introduce yourself in the New members section.

    What Melissa said above &
    Hi ryans_kombi,
Welcome to the Kombi Club. Lots of knowledge here....not with me....other members;). She truly is a lady to sell you her kombi & let you pay it off:cool:.
Most caravan stores have the struts & @Necro on here can do your canvas. Come back to me on how to replace it;).
77 to 79 not the best for rust:(. Look forward to the photos:).
    Cheers

Cheers mate, hoping to have the old girl in the next month or so cant wait to dig into it.....I kind of want to just get the rust out and re-paint for now.. then get it registered.. so I can have a little fun... then I might do other things like re-build the engine, fix the upholstery etc... so much to think about lol

Could someone please point me in the direction of someone who does canvas replacements for pop tops? This ive seen on here before but cant find where.

He is in located in Melbourne but will send you it. Bit of a bugger of a job but it can be done with patience. Much cheaper than getting someone to do it, as it is quite labour intensive.

There's a couple of good trimmers bris and nth Brisbane .
Peeps will put up their suggestions.
Dave does it excellent work but even he said it's a couple of days to do it right.
Think Brad and Paul ( sunny Jim) had someone they recommend.
    Check their build threads.
And think Outrage is still nth Brissy .
