    Hi Jennie,

Glad you enjoyed the story so far. I've been way to busy the last month to continue the story but will get back onto it soon. (I've been busier than a 1 legged man in an arse kicking contest !!)
Sofala is well worth a visit especially in your Lowlight Kombi.

Guys I will be in Sofala with my old friends & a tribe of kids 18th to 20th October...
Kombi Owners please Come on Down for a chat...

My Kombi isn't ready so I will be in a blue Prado...

    Fast forward to 2013..
Here's a Pic of my Current Project an original 1956 Kombi which I picked up in Melbourne in May...it had been sitting in a backyard in Ringwood under an old awning since last registered 1979... I got it home on the Saturday & I had it running around the block on the Sunday, now under restoration...

What do you think guys Rat or full Resto ?

I hope to meet some of you guys up at the Old Bar Kombi Festival on Sunday..

    Enjoy....

    Cheers Barney Barndoor

Looks the goods. Make it good. Too many Rats around so they are losing their charm.

Great stories and photos ...you should find a publisher and make a book...
Love the photo of your daughter behind the wheel
Reminds me of my own daughter and a little experience we had at a similar age
I used to let her sit on my lap and steer the car down the drive way...of course i ha hold of the wheel at the six oclock position
I switched off the ignition and went to open the garage door...it was an old garage...you enter via the side door and open the big barn door from inside....
Well guess what happens when i am in the shed..
The familiar Dak Dak sound of an old beetle....shit....no worries its not in gear...
    Wrong....
She cant reach the pedals....didnt matter the engine was warm
Crash ....my daughter standing on the drivers seat ....her face is completly white
I managed to step out of the way as it crashed into the back wall of the garage..
    And stalled.....
    Amazingly no one got hurt...
    The car a 71 beetle...chopped off convertable....was fine
But the fibro garage was a write off....

Thanks Miss Leah I've nearly taught little Miss Capri how to say "Kombi" but most of the time she points at it & says "Daddy's Car"

    Hi Jerome,

Thanks, Great story & glad it was only the fibro wall that got damaged...
I can see that being a good story.... Has Jessie driven a VW since ?

    Cheers Simon

Hi Simon....it ended up being a winfall for us....as we had wanted...even gotten quotes on having the fibro shed removed...prior to Jessie's adventure...being fibro asbestos..it was an expensive proposition as you have to get special permits and specialists to remove the stuff.
The home insurance assesor was very quick to condem the building and the shed was removal and replacement was covered by insurance.
Jessie did drive that same Bug once more ..she was about 14 yo..
I was giving her a little a little driving lesson ..she pop the clutch and crashed into the neighbours fence...
After that she never drove a vw again...
Now she drives a ford laser 90 automatic...she is pretty happy with it...she is not really a car person
